HOW TO CREATE A YOGA PLAYLIST

How to Create a Yoga Music Playlist to add flavor and intensity to your yoga classes or yoga practice.

Many of us have had our most inspiring yoga moments thanks to the beautiful song playing alongside the instructions.

However, the lyrics and beat of the songs you choose can also derail your class because of the distractive nature of music.

If you want to know how to create the perfect yoga music playlist to electrify your yoga sessions, the following tips should come in handy.

HOW TO CREATE A YOGA PLAYLIST

Choose songs that will resonate with your class

How to Create a Yoga Music Playlist

When you are selecting a yoga playlist, you want to choose songs that will resonate with your class and push them to greater heights during the session.
If your selection is in tune with your audience, everybody would be in high spirits, following your instructions and getting their own fix of introspection and relaxation as the music plays along.

Never play music that is too upbeat in your class unless you want to ruin the peaceful mood of everyone.

ENVIROMENT

Be sure to choose tracks in tune with the preferences and musical style of the environment

The environment is also important when you are creating a yoga playlist. Are you creating a playlist for stay-at-home moms or busy executives?

Are your students in their twenties or high net worth retirees?
Be sure to choose tracks in tune with the preferences and musical style of the environment.

For example, the playlist for a yoga class in a hospital should differ from that of a private studio.

WHERE TO FIND YOGA PLAYLISTS

Many yoga teachers uses various streaming sources for making their own yoga playlists.
The most used is probably Spotify. Here’s a few of my favourite Spotify Yoga music playlist.

Another great place to find yoga music playlists is Youtube. Listen some of our youtube yoga playlists HERE

PRACTICE WITH YOUR PLAYLIST

So you have chosen some excellent tracks, but have you tried them before going to the class?
You need to practice to your playlist to determine the flow of the song and how to sync the playlist with your class.
If you played the selection without first listening and practicing to the playlist, you might end up conducting the class without the music if it distracts the class or you get your cues wrong.

Choose 10 perfect songs for your yoga playlist for a start, practice to it, and increase as you go.

UPDATE YOUR PLAYLISTS

Spice things up with new tracks once in a while.

Your class will get bored of listening to the same tracks over and over again. Variation is important, so spice things up with new tracks once in a while.
You can check out the best yoga playlist Spotify users are streaming right now or vinyasa yoga playlists Spotify is promoting currently.

Another great idea is to make a monthly playlist.
One great example of this is actress, writer, international yoga teacher and entrepreneur Adriene Mishler. Listen to her monthy yoga playlists here:

VOLUME

The volume of the music is vital to the effectiveness of your yoga playlist. If the volume is too low, you lose the exhilarating power of the music. Too high, you risk overshadowing your voice, making it difficult for students to hear your instructions.
